EPA is a consortium of six foundations from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia supporting community based projects whose goal is to protect the environment and support local communities and society. Over 20 years of its existence, the EPA has supported by foundation contributions more than 10 million Euros in total.
EPA Consortium operates on the basis of a
Consortium Agreement between independent, self-governing, and non-for-profit national foundations. The EPA secretariat is an independent legal entity founded under Czech law and governed by a
Board of Directors. Currently, thera are some
140 full time and part time staff members working in
six offices in five countries and over
50 advisors and board members servis national foundations and regional association.
We are proffesional administrators of crucial financial mechanisms for funding NGO activities in 5 CEE EU countries for the governments of
Norway and the
Swiss Confederation.
EPA initiated the
European Tree of the Year – a contest of the most lovable tree, a tree with a story that can bring the community together.
EPA is a member of the
European Cyclists' Federation and
European Greenways Association and coordinates the
European cycle route network EuroVelo on the national level in Central European countries. EPA also certifies facilities and services for cyclists with certification
Cyclists welcome (
Czech,
Slovak).
EPA implements its own projects and is also a partner of European projects supported by the
EC financial instruments – for example
INTERREG,
Europa Aid,
Grundtwig and
national structural funds. EPA provides professional counseling for NGOs and small municipalities on effective use of the EC funds on national level.
