08.09.2008 | Poland: Schools for Sustainable Development Conference, Warsaw
The Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation is hosting the annual Schools for Sustainable Development assembly on 8th September 2008 in Polish Ministry of Environment.
The main goal of conference is summary of national Schools for Sustainable Development Program in Poland in which hundreds schools have participated in the last 7 years. About 450 schools were supported by grants for developing initiatives engaging local communities to practical sustainable development activities and developing schools as “living examples of Sustainable Development” and practical action for climate changes protection.
The conference will be attended by approximately 70 people – mainly school leaders and regional partners of the program, representatives of national education institutions, members of the SSD Program Steering Committee including representatives of business and national partner institutions (Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Education representatives, National Environmental Fund and Water Protection, Toyota and etc.). Leaders of international educational and climate change protection institutions (i.e. European Environment Agency of Copenhagen, Sustainable Development Consultant (former Local Governance Advisor to the UK Sustainable Development Commission) will also take part in the meeting.
During the conference the best polish schools will be awarded inter alia by title of Local Center for Environmental Activity and international certificate of Green Flag of the Eco – Schools program.
