28.06.2007 | Trixi Mobiles Launched in Slovakia
In June 2007 the Slovak Environmental Partnership Foundation launched an ambitious and practical awareness and fundraising project; trixi mobils. Trixi mobils are modern, ecological and comfortable three–wheelers for one driver and two passengers. Thanks to the project, Slovakia is the 18th country in the world to adopt them with 5 unmistakable rickshaws driving the streets of Bratislava in the summer. Trixi mobiles — classified as bicycles — are equipped with additional electric motor (250 W) and reach maximum speed of 25 kmph. The booth made of polyethylene is fully recyclable. A driver can take on board two passengers with full convenience, almost in any weather. Trixi mobiles or Velotrixi (the name under which they are known worldwide) can be found in the streets of almost every European city open to environmentally–friendly transportation. In Germany, for example, one can find the three–wheelers in 23 cities and towns. Trixi mobiles will be used on selected routes across Bratislava serving locals as well as tourists in their transportation needs. The goal of the project is to promote ecological, non–motorized transport, to generate support for the Greenways program and to contribute to the further development of tourism in Slovakia.
