29.05.2008 | Prestigious New Grant Programs in Hungary
Through support of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Hungarian Ministry for Environment and Waters and the UNDP / GEF the Hungarian Environmental Partnership Foundation launched three new grants programs; Open Society — Healthy Environment, Green Source 2007 and Living Tisza totaling approximately € 650,000. The Open Society — Healthy Environment Program supports environmental advocacy and watchdog activities, publicity and social participation in decision making. The Green Source 2007 program is an official program of the ministry and the HEPF was contracted to manage the grant process as an independent expert, carrying out several tasks from formal evaluation to program monitoring. The fund supports projects that promote civic participation in the second National Environmental Program, environmental education programs and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The last program, The Living Tisza — Tisza Biodiversity Program supported by the UNDP/GEF aims at developing and promoting alternative floodplain management systems that provide for flood prevention, nature conservation and rural economic development.
