29.06.2008 | Bulgaria: Danube Day Celebrated in Bulgaria
For the third year the Bulgarian Environmental Partnership Foundation is implementing Green Danube Initiative, supported by Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottle Company. The initiative is aimed to promote and emphasize the river's importance to every Bulgarian and to popularize the Danube Day, June 29,2008 along the Danube and outside of the Danube area.
Danube Day was celebrated under the slogan Sustainable usage of Danube river in 23 towns and villages with different competitions, bike tours and environmental activities. Inspiring young people to consider the people and wildlife that depend on the Danube rivers is a central theme. Fun educational events and high-level meetings will highlight the message that real solutions to the rivers' problems can only be found if all the Danube nations work together.
BEPF implement a grant program “Environmental agriculture & Fish-farming”, supporting small demonstrational projects of local NGOs and farmers for development of good environmental practices and clean water measures.
