Belarus Greenways Solidarity Cycling Tour 1-31.08.2008
As part of on-going support of the Polish Environmental Partnership for the development of Greenways in neighboring Belarus, a month-long cycling tour in Belarus is being organized by the Belorussian “Country Escape” Association and ECEAT-Holland. The main idea is to support local people in rural areas of Belarus to come up with ideas for sustainable business initiatives that respect the human desire for prosperity and nature’s need for protection. Over 30 cyclists from the Netherlands, Great Britain, Belgium, France, Poland and Belarus will cycle around 1000 km, visiting 3 greenways: Neman River Trail, Lepel Greenway (“In the Land of Yellow Water-Lilies and Grey Erratic Boulders) and the Blue Necklace of Rossony Greenway.
The expedition includes:
· Cycling through greenways (nature routes in eco-corridors) and supporting sustainable development of greenways
· With one year old Dutch 18 gears “SPARTA” Hybrid Bicycles and transporter at the back
· In each period a nature excursion of two days by canoe or hiking
· In each period a village festival with culinary contest and performances
· Banja (Russian Sauna) regularly prepared for the group.
