The Environmental Partnership: A Smart Investment
The EPSD has supported thousands of initiatives that have improved the lives of tens of thousands of people, protected hundreds of endangered species, and gotten countless people involved in improving the places where they live. In order to continue to live sustainable lifestyles in harmony with the natural world, we need your support. Contributions to the Environmental Partnership can either be made at the regional level or at the level of individual national foundations. For more information please contact: David C. Endowment Campaign
After fifteen years of continuous operation the Environmental Partnership is facing a new challenge for building its own financial reserves and endowment in order to sustain its many programs. Building an endowment or reserve fund will allow each member to maintain their independent funding sources that are made available to NGOs in their country. The endowment will enable the Environmental Partnership to truly become a source of long-term sustainability for grassroots and community initiatives in Central Europe.
In 2004 the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation awarded a 'matching grant' to challenge the Environmental Partnership to raise 1 million USD, which we succeeded to match dollar-for-dollar. This is no small accomplishment in Central Europe and serves as testimony to our commitment to sustainability. After successfully completing this first “challenge grant”, the Mott Foundation has approved a new challenge for 2007 and 2010 to increase the endowment by 800,000 USD.
Individuals or businesses who contribute to endowment funds are unique; they understand the need for sustaining the future, and they provide a legacy and a long-term future for an organization.
As of today (2008) the foundations of the Environmental Partnership have a capital of USD nearly 7 million. In order to put the foundation on a firm financial basis, its capital should reach at least USD 20 million in the coming years. This capital would remain undiminished, and the foundations' work would be financed from the interest this capital generates.
