Alternative Energy - Anti- Nuclear Energy (BG, CR, HU, RO, SK )

EPSD foundations have been strong supporters of alternative energy initiatives since the 1990s. Specific projects have included energy saving initiatives in schools, supporting and promoting the use of solar panels and other sources of alternative energy, insulating homes and public buildings and raising public awareness of and support for renewable energy.

The nuclear power industry is waging a come-back, especially in the new member states. Therefore, EPSD foundations continue to actively support grassroots organizations and initiatives engaged in anti-nuclear energy activities. We support civic initiatives dealing with problems of the use of nuclear power and support initiatives that contribute to the progressive transition from state substituted nuclear power plants to wider usage of renewable energy sources and measures for effective energy use. In 2008 we are supporting the development of an international exhibition on uranium mining as well as continuing to support nuclear energy monitoring (development of independent studies, objective informing of the broad public, watchdog of decision making processes, etc.)
